MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin has been hit hard by flooding and tornadoes in 2017. That’s why Gov. Scott Walker has designated September as Preparedness Month to encourage people across the state to take time now to prepare before disaster strikes.
MADISON – Governor Scott Walker today sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump requesting a federal disaster declaration for 11 western Wisconsin counties that sustained flood damage in July. Torrential rains and flash floods caused more than $10 million in damage to roads and public infrastructure. The request is for federal assistance to help local governments recover from the disaster, including Buffalo, Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Jackson, La Crosse, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Trempealeau and Vernon counties.
MADISON – Governor Scott Walker announced today the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request for federal low-interest disaster loans for individuals and businesses affected by flooding in southeastern Wisconsin last month. MADISON – Governor Scott Walker issued Executive Order #249 today declaring a State of Emergency for 17 counties following torrential rains that have fallen over western Wisconsin in the last few days.
