Advanced Professional Level Requirements Table

Prerequisites

Recognition as:

  • 2018 and before:
    • Wisconsin Certified Emergency Manager
  • 2018 and after:
    • Wisconsin Certified Emergency Manager – Professional Level
  • Or request Waiver/Equivalency:
    • Submit equivalency package

Training Transcript/CV:

  • Outline 800 or more hours of formal Emergency Management Training
    (Note: WCEM – Basic and -Professional level prerequisites already include 402.75 hours of formal EM training)

Resume:

  • Submit resume and supporting documentation
    • showing at least 10 years & 10,000 hours of professional work experience related to Emergency Management

Exam

Do I need to take a test?

When did you receive your CEM – Professional Level Certificate?

  • After 1 January 2024:
    • NO TEST REQUIRED
  • 31 December 2023 and earlier:
    • Take and pass the current (2024) WCEM – Professional test

Project

Project Management:
Submit a major project (completed within the past three years) and project report for review evaluation
(See 5005.8.7 for more information on the type of project that would be appropriate)

Mentoring

Active Mentoring:
Mentor a future Wisconsin Certified Emergency Manager – Professional candidate:

  • 8 or more total hours conducted in at least two sessions over 30 days
