MADISON, Wis. – Disasters can have a major impact on communities and knowing how to respond can make a big difference in the ability of organizations to recover. Those skills will be brought into focus during the Wisconsin Public-Private Partnership (P3) Summit, being held Nov. 1-2 at the Glacier Canyon Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells.
The free summit, organized by Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) and the Dells/Delton Area Response Exercise Series (DARES), will bring together representatives from the private sector, public sector, volunteer organizations, faith-based community, and emergency management to discuss disaster recovery procedures and best practices.
“Building partnerships between the public and private sector is essential to improving resiliency following a disaster,” said WEM Acting Administrator Greg Engle. “Wisconsin Emergency Management is thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity for those sectors to connect and share knowledge, while building relationships.”
“It is always best to have a well-established working relationship with our business partners before we have to meet during a crisis,” said Lake Delton Director of Public Safety Dan Hardman. “I assure you that my staff is working diligently with personnel from WEM to make the upcoming homeland security exercise a successful event in helping all of our community be prepared to handle a disaster.”
Over the two days of the summit, participants will be able to attend trainings for preparedness planning and watch demonstrations on responding to catastrophic events. They will also hear from a wide array of speakers on topics that include current cyber threats to businesses, ways to leverage federal, state and local resources to assist with private sector recovery, and how to communicate the importance of disaster preparation with leadership.
