MADISON, Wis. – Gov. Tony Evers has appointed Greg Engle to be Wisconsin Emergency Management’s administrator, the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs announced (Wednesday).
“I would like to thank Gov. Evers for this tremendous opportunity to serve the state of Wisconsin,” Engle said. “I am looking forward to continuing to improve WEM’s disaster response and recovery capabilities, while working closely with our partners across the state.”
Engle has been with WEM since 2012, where he most recently served as acting administrator of the division. Prior to that, he was the director of the division’s Bureau of Planning and Preparedness, where he oversaw the development of the state’s emergency response plans and training and exercise programs designed to prepare emergency responders across the state.
Engle was also responsible for the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), which is an essential facility for coordinating state assistance to county and tribal governments during widespread disasters. The SEOC also played an integral role in Wisconsin’s COVID-19 response operations.
