Gov. Evers Signs Executive Order #68 Declaring a State of Emergency in Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha Counties
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers is requesting that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) conduct a Preliminary Damage Assessment in Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties, following severe winter storms and lakeshore flooding that occurred Jan. 10-12, 2020. The process is the first step in determining whether the state will request a federal disaster declaration.
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today signed Executive Order #47 declaring a State of Emergency for Chippewa, Clark, and Dunn counties, after strong storms hit the area Tuesday night, producing a tornado that injured two people and damaged over a dozen homes and other structures. The storm also downed trees and power lines, leaving several thousand utility customers without power.

Thousands of school children from across Wisconsin learned about severe weather and emergency preparedness after attending Weather Day at Miller Park April 17.
Every February, 30,000 skiers and spectators descend on northwestern Wisconsin to take part in the largest cross-country race in North America, the American Birkebeiner. The more than 30-mile race from Cable to Hayward, known as the “Birkie,” tests the endurance of skiers. It also creates a huge emergency communications challenge for first responders.
