Be flood smart this spring – Flood Safety Awareness Week is March 18-22
Every February, 30,000 skiers and spectators descend on northwestern Wisconsin to take part in the largest cross-country race in North America, the American Birkebeiner. The more than 30-mile race from Cable to Hayward, known as the “Birkie,” tests the endurance of skiers. It also creates a huge emergency communications challenge for first responders.
MADISON, Wis. — As you set the clocks forward this weekend, ReadyWisconsin is encouraging you to take advantage of the time change to test the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home and replace the batteries.

MADISON, Wis. – Time is running out for Wisconsin residents to register for federal disaster assistance, if they had property damage caused by the flooding and storms the state experienced in August and September of this year. If you sustained flood or storm damage, and live in one of the nine federally declared counties, you have until Dec. 17, 2018 to apply for assistance.
