MADISON, Wis. – From fires to floods, disasters can be scary for kids. September is Preparedness Month, and ReadyWisconsin encourages parents and educators to help protect children by teaching them how to be prepared for the unexpected.
MADISON, Wis. – Registration is now open for the Governor’s 2021 Cybersecurity Summit, being held Oct. 4-5 at the Wilderness Resort – Glacier Canyon Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells. This annual summit brings together national cybersecurity experts, government and academic leaders and the business community to share knowledge and experience in finding new ways to protect our digital infrastructure and address the emerging challenges of cybersecurity.
CHICAGO – Through the Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant program (PDM), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released $1,626,338 to the village of Fox Point, Wisconsin for a resilient infrastructure project to protect the Lake Michigan shoreline from erosion.
While all disasters are local, sometimes an incident goes beyond a jurisdiction’s capability to respond. During a complex or prolonged response, such as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the emergency management community has long recognized the need for a qualified team of experienced, well-trained individuals with specialized skills that can assist a local incident commander, which is known as an Incident Management Team (IMT).
