50th Annual Governor’s Conference on Emergency Management and Homeland Security Begins Wednesday.
(MADISON) – Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Annual Governor’s Conference on Emergency Management and Homeland Security begins Wednesday, March 8th and runs through Thursday, March 9th at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
More than 400 people from fire services, law enforcement, emergency management, and other first responder agencies are expected to attend this year’s event. Presenters at the conference will cover a wide range of topics from a review of the 2016 floods, to the capabilities of Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue.
Keynote speakers include Michelle Kuzera from Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security. She will discuss the Flint, Michigan water crisis. There will also be breakout sessions on the use of drones in emergencies, how social media plays a critical role in disaster communications, and Wisconsin’s newly created Cyber Response Teams. The conference concludes with a panel discussion of active shooter response training and techniques.
